Christoph and Christopher started their career journey separately during their studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt. Both already had years of experience in IT on their backs before studying Information Technology with focus on Geoinformatics.
Right after graduation they stayed at the same university, working on interesting research projects and teaching courses. During that time their paths crossed for the first time and they started working together. This interest in research remained for a couple of years when Christoph moved on to work at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), developing Geo-Wiki.org and later getting Christopher to join him there, developing LACO-Wiki together. This is where the idea for a spin-off company arose.
During the next couple of years, Spatial Focus was a part-time endeavor with 1-2 days per week, withstanding job changes when Christoph went on to work for the United Nations and develop enterprise applications. Meanwhile, Christopher found mobile development in the Smart-Home sector as a new fulfilling domain. Finally, five years after Spatial Focus was founded, in 2020 it turned to a sole occupation for both.
